Scammers are sending unsolicited text messages that will result in a monthly $9.99 charge on your mobile provider bill. The Mn BBB has now issued a statement on this. See it here.  This actually happened to me as well.  I have T-Mobile and it shows up as a “premium service” from Silicon Investments.  So check your bills closely and report it to your provider right away.

Here is a great resource for online safety and security information right from Microsoft:

It contains great information and links on keeping your Windows computer and online identity secure.

Maximum PC has again rated Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 as a top product giving it an 8 out of 10 rating.  It continues to be my personal choice and runs on all of my personal computers.

According to the advance notification here there will be a large number of updates released by Microsoft on April 12th.  It is being called the largest “patch Tuesday” they have had with 64 fixes (9 labeled critical and 8 as important).

It has been 10 years since I started this business.  It was run under my name, first branded as AROTechworks, changed to Ordner Technology Services, and now OrdnerTech.   I started while living in New Hope and moved to Andover a few years ago and continued.  My main tagline has evolved from “Making technology work one person at a time” to a much simpler “Making technology work”.

It has been an interesting learning experience and I have met many great people over the years.

Thank you for your support!

For now you can still access the old site here.  However I will be taking it down in the very near future.  I still plan on adding more here but wanted to switch over quickly.  I hope you find the layout simple and the performance faster than the old web site.  Please let me know if you can not find something by using the “contact me” button at the top of the page.

My daughter Shaylee was diagnosed with type 1 when she was two years old.  She is now approaching seven and someday I hope she will be free of the everyday work and worry dealing with this disease.

This year, I’ll be taking part in JDRF’s Walk to Cure Diabetes at the Mall of America in Bloomington Minnesota, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $89 million.  Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children.  There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it’s making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.

One of my reasons for using the Chrome browser from Google is it has never been hacked possibly because the other browsers have been easier targets.  Now to test that theory Google is putting up $20k as a reward to see what happens.  To get more details follow one of the links below.
